Upon graduating college in 2009, Alexi was facing an uncertain future. With a passion for music and songwriting but unsure of what to do with it, he decided to take the first step that every songwriter takes at the beginning of their careers and went to work at an insurance company. He showed up on time, developed an impressive array of pastel colored button-downs, and made every effort to comprehend concepts like “liability” and “tort.” But when he began spending most of his days at his cubicle writing lyrics for what would end up becoming a song for the company—entitled “Make Love the Bottom Line”—he knew he was in the wrong place. And he realized that if he could write a love song about an insurance company, he could write about anything.

Called "blue-eyed soul for the 21st century," Alexi, originally from the Boston area but now in Philadelphia, has since developed an impressive list of accomplishments for an indie artist. He’s performed with Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, he performed at SXSW 2017, and his music has been licensed for use in fourteen television shows across seven major networks including A&E, MTV, VH1, and BET. Also called the "real deal" by soultracks.com, he won Best Song at the Los Angeles Film Awards 2018 (“25/8”) and the Silver Award for R&B in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest 2017 ("Hashtag"). And in 2018, after running a successful $12,000 Kickstarter, he and his band pulled off an innovative ten-city “East Coast Diner Tour,” where he put on a full, live concert in mom-and-pop diners from Boston to Atlanta.

Inspired by a trip to his father’s homeland of Greece in 2018, and his subsequent wedding engagement to his longtime partner, Alexi began work on his next, most ambitious and heartfelt project, “Love Odyssey.” A collection of love songs and with visuals that reflect Alexi’s Greek heritage, the project transports listeners to a world of endless, old school romanticism, with its groove-heavy R&B musical stylings and lyrics that reflect the joy of being in love. The video for its first single, “Mine” (Apr 2018), which was a creative compilation of virtual weddings from around the world, was already featured in Philadelphia Magazine and the New York Times, and the song has over 75,000 streams on Spotify. And with album features from heavy hitters including hip-hop legend Jadakiss and Grammy Award winner Chrisette Michele, and additional appearances by Amina Buddafly, T3 (Slum Village), and Natalie Stewart (Floetry), Alexi is poised to take the R&B world by storm and demonstrate that traditional, “two-steppable” love songs are not dead. Album release date TBA.

In his life before adventuring into the world of insurance…Alexi grew up in Newton, MA playing the guitar at age seven and writing songs at age eleven while listening to Motown and the Beatles. One of the first albums he purchased was Kirk Franklin’s, “The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin,” and he recalls his world being changed forever upon hearing the opening piano line to “Hosanna” as he exited the mall parking garage. Influenced by Kirk Franklin and other contemporary gospel music, R&B legends like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Prince, and neo-soul artists like India.Arie and D’angelo, Alexi has always strived to create music that doesn’t just sound good, but feels good. In addition to his solo music career, Alexi has also served as minister of music for a number of churches, been a music and choir teacher in a variety of middle, high school, and college settings, and currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife and three furry children.
